Christmas Present's Quilt

I cut this one out last year and finally got it finished. I wish I would have taken a row off because it's so long -- oh well. Right after I took this picture my camera broke. I'm crossing my fingers (and hinting a lot) that I get a new one for Christmas. I'll have to borrow my husband's till then. I also finished quilting 2 table runners that are my sister's and her friend from last year. I thought I would get them done this summer -- but I forgot about them. It feels good to have those Christmas projects crossed off my list!

Gary got the lights on this house this week and put up three of those spiral trees in the yard. It would be nice to have a little snow to get up in the mood for Christmas -- just a little because I worry about my family and everyone having to drive in it.

I can't believe that Thanksgiving is this week. I have to work from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. so we'll be having a late meal.

Quilt for Christmas

I finished this quilt that I'm giving to my mother-in-law for Christmas. It's so hard to buy for your parents when they have most everything they need -- in my price range that is. My MIL made a comment a while ago that she didn't have a quilt from me. I found this kit at American Quilting in Orem and fell in love with it. I was going to keep it for myself -- but once it was made in noticed how it matches her family room and sun room perfectly.

I've got another one started from the same pattern with some fabrics from my stash and some I just bought to go with them. I really should be working on a my son's wedding quilt -- just got tired of it for a bit. I have a stack of quilts that are waiting to be machine quilted too -- but I'm just tired at night after work and it's dark outside and so I don't want to do anything. I have been trying to be better about cooking dinner. Those who know me understand that -- I really don't like to cook! (It's a good thing I married someone who does). It really isn't so bad to put chicken, baked potatoes or roasted veges in the oven that the weather is cooler.

Vote!

I took a break from work around noon to go vote. I turned on the TV and saw how people were waiting hours in line across the country and it made me nervous. Went right down to the school, walked in, went right up to the book and signed in, then off to the voting machine. I think I was in and out of there in 10 minutes. I have been back and forth between the candidates this year and watched the debates. I finally made up my mind a few weeks ago. The state and local elections were much easier to decide on!

It's a rainy day and I'm having a hard time staying focused at work. My son built a fire and I just wanted to get a good book and sit in front of it and read. Maybe later....

Phase of the Moon

I haven't blogged for a couple of weeks. I just wasn't in the mood for much of anything. I remember once when we were on vacation in Arkansas visiting family I overheard two ladies talking. One was telling the other about a friend of theirs who packed up her belongings and left her husband. She said, in her slow southern drawl, "It must be the phase of the moon!" Ever since then my husband and I joke about that. I have been having the blahs and just not feeling motivated -- so it must have been the phase of the moon for me.

Gary and I went on a ride Thursday afternoon. It looks so different in the mountains with all of the leaves off the trees. It was a nice afternoon going up the mountain, but on the way down we were freezing. This is my granddaughter, Eden. She was a mermaid for Halloween. After I took the picture I jokingly asked her which one was her. She was so serious when she pointed herself out to me.
I've been making some burp clothes. My sisters have been making them and I thought they were so cute. They are flannel on one side and chenille on the other.

I saw this journal cover in a magazine I bought and had to try it. You just use a composition notebook.

I've been working on the buzz saw quilt. I have 21 blocks done and need 9 more. I'm making it a king size for my son Jon. He just got engaged last week to Bekkah! We are all so happy and excited. They are getting married on December 29th.
