Christmas

I'm late in posting about Christmas....busy time of year. For the last 3 years we've bought Dutch chocolate letters for all our kids and grandkids. Here's my "C" all wrapped up nice...sure tasted good. Jared and Jamie remember getting their chocolate letters from Grandma Ann when they were young. (Lavada if you read this you'll be glad to see we are continuing the tradition your mom started!) I'm hoping my grandkids will remember this and look forward to their chocolate letter every Christmas.

It was just Gary, Jaycee and me opening presents this year. Jaycee got the netbook (mini computer) that she wanted. Can you say spoiled? That's what happens to the youngest I guess.

This is her skull quilt. I think she likes it. I love the look of having just one blue block and the the border to match.

Jack's smiling face was a Christmas present I loved. He's the happiest little guy ever!

Jayda was going 90 miles an hour all day. She fell asleep before she could even eat a bite of food.

Sneak Peak at a Christmas Present

I saw a skull quilt like this on a blog.....somewhere.....and I couldn't find a pattern anywhere. I searched and searched on the Internet. So I got my graph paper and made my own pattern. My brain nearly exploded trying to figure out the 1/4 inch seams and making it all fit, but I did it!!!
I'm thrilled with the way it turned out. This is a present for my son-in-law who I am pretty sure doesn't read my blog....so I'm posting pictures before the big day.
He loves skulls! I found this Alexander Henry fabric that was perfect for the back. I've got another one on my quilt frames that is black, white, and blue for my youngest daughter for Christmas. I'm hoping to get it done today.......crossing my fingers that it happens!

I made this quilt for my friend to give her grandson. I'm liking the darker colors for boys lately.

Christmas Bowling Party!

We had Gary's Family Christmas party tonight. His parent's planned a bowling party this year....and it was a blast!! This is Poppa helping the grandkids bowl.

Jayda got so excited every time she bowled....didn't even matter what her score was. She was so cute. Brandon did really good bowling without the bumpers.

This is a little ramp that the kids used. We put the ball on top and then they would roll it off. (I think I'll try that next time we go!) Gary and Jamie comparing scores......or something? Funny picture of them.

It was fun watching everyone bowl and visiting. We took turns holding (and loving) the little ones. We had pizzas and drinks to munch on while we bowled.
Jayce and Jayda. Jack and Eden...can you tell they are siblings? I hope they always get along this good.
Jodi giving me a cheesy grin.
I haven't bowled since high school and so I didn't bowl tonight...but Gary said he'll take our family bowling after Christmas and teach me how. He was practically raised in a bowling alley since his parent's owned one when he was younger. He spent every weekend there helping out. My in-laws are excellent bowlers. It was amazing to watch them bowl tonight.
I hope we do it again next year. One of the funnest family parties I've ever been to!

It finally feels like Christmas

We've got the Christmas countdown going. And it has been snowing since yesterday. It really came down today. We were doing our Christmas shopping and the roads were bad. I was so glad I wasn't the one driving!!
We have both trees up and decorated. We did a flocked real tree upstairs this year. I LOVE it. It reminds me of when I was younger and my dad would go out under the carport and flock the tree himself with the vacuum and bags of flocking. I loved watching him transform the green tree to a white one. I'm pretty sure he didn't enjoy it that much, as I remember hearing a cuss word or two as he did it.
Our antique ornaments look so good on the flocked tree. I took pictures of a few of my favorites.
Those of you in my age group can probably remember sticking your fingers in these ornaments. It takes me back so many years....and yes I still poke them when I put them on the tree. Just can't resist!
We have most of our shopping done and our neighbor gifts delivered.....I've never been this ready before so early in the month. My husband has a batch of Chex Mix in the oven, the snow it here......I can relax a little and enjoy the holiday season.
