Such a funny little man

Jack made us laugh so hard when he put on Bekkah's glasses. He's pulls the funniest faces sometimes. I think he looks like a little nerd with glasses...but such a lovable little boy.

Got another blanket done with the Minkee fabric on the back. So soft! I think our little granddaughter will be here soon!

Memorial Day

This is what think about on Memorial Day. I usually don't talk about the 2 babies we lost in between Jodi and Jaycee...but I still think about them and what they would have been like if they had lived. We lost our little boy first in June of 1992. Then in 1993, the day after Christmas, we lost our little girl. They didn't give us any memories of our boy, but for our little girl they gave us hand and feet prints and a ring they put on her fingers. It was an awful thing to go through. I was half way through both pregnancies when I developed complications.

This is a page from my scrapbook where I recorded my thoughts and feelings. It was so scary with Jessica.... I was hemorrhaging so bad I almost died. I could see the fear in the faces of my husband, the nurses, and the doctor. I had a very spiritual near death experience....I know it wasn't my time to go.

My doctor told me not to get pregnant again, I was too high risk. He told me to go home and love the four children that I had. Surprise.....against all odds Jaycee was born a year later!!

Another baby quilt

DSCN3000 I started this one months ago and tucked it away. I found it last week when rearranging my quilt closet and decided it was time to finish it. DSCN3004 I wasn't following a pattern, just making it up as I went along. I wasn’t sure I liked the straight look of the blocks, so I trimmed them on an angle. It turned out a little topsy-turvy. Kind of a fun look! DSCN3005I love the material for the back of the quilt, but then anything brown appeals to me! One more done for the new grandbaby due to arrive in a couple weeks. I’m getting excited to have another new baby around. Jack and BrookLynn are going to be turning 1 soon. They grow up so fast.

Feeling my age. . . . .

May 5 2010 416

This happy little guy wasn’t so happy last night.   We had Jack and Eden sleep over because our son-in-law, John, had back surgery early this morning in Salt Lake.  About 11:30 p.m. Gary and I put him in his car seat and rode around a bit.  It did the trick and he feel asleep.  But not for long.  Around 1:30 a.m. he was awake and wanting his mama (and her plumbing).  Gary tried for an hour to get him back to sleep…no such luck!  (I have to confess right here that I was faking sleep…I know….bad grandma!)  Gary ended up having to take him home in the middle of the night.   I’ve been dragging all day from lack of sleep.  That’s why you have your kids when you are young…right??

On the positive side, John’s surgery went good.  I’m hoping it gets rid of some of his pain so he can enjoy life again.  He’s so young to go through it, but his back is really messed up…poor guy!

I’ve been working on another quilt for Jodi, but I’m not happy with the way it’s going together.  I think I’ll let it be a few days and see if any inspiration on fixing it comes my way :)

Just how much chapstick is enough?

Little Miss Jayda wanted some chapstick. I found her a pretty new one in Gamma's goodie drawer. She has been applying it nonstop now for the last 45 minutes....all around her lips and on them. Such a pretty shade of pink!!
We have Jared's two girls tonight while he is at Father and Sons campout. I'm impatiently waiting for Brookie to wake up. So glad it's the weekend. I've had such a tough week at work...ha ha! I only had to work 3 days and it still wore me out. I've got big plans for sewing all weekend.

Is this really May?

DSCN2882

Crazy weather just won’t get warm.  We hit snow coming home on Tuesday.  I’m getting anxious to get the garden planted.  Soon…I hope.

This is the baby fabric I bought this week.  I’m crossing my fingers that I get time this weekend to work on it.

I got another nursing cover done tonight.  I had about an hour to sew and didn’t want to start a quilt.  I did the bottom in a little ruffle this time…kind of a fun look.

Just chillin.....

I'm laying in bed surfing the web. It feels so sinful. On Monday nights I'm usually working. Who knew that there's absolutely nothing worth watching on Monday nights? Doesn't matter though. I'm perfectly content to check out some quilting blogs.

****************************
I should have taken more pictures today to blog about. I LOVE palm trees, so I did snap a few pictures of some.
And a view of the pool from our room. It's been kinda windy today so no one swimming. We drove around today checking out different parts of St. George. I only stopped at one fabric store, Quilted Works. I'm browsing through the fabric with my hubby and the lady at the checkout counter says I look familiar. "Are you a quilter?" Then she got that look that let me know she figured it out. "I read your blog!" That made my day....my week! I've never had that happen before. Small world. I owe my "fame" to Nedra at Cactus Needle. She's a quilter/blogger down here and they got the link to my blog from hers. Anyway, bought some fun fabrics for another baby quilt for Jodi. It's a panel in pinks and browns. I figure the panel will make it easy to get the quilt done before her baby gets here...and it was so cute I couldn't resist.

Happy Mother's Day

This is how I plan on spending my day.....in warm St. George in a cozy hotel room!
Checking out some of my favorite blogs and searching for new blogs, checking e-mail, etc. (While Gary is relaxing and watching TV). We had some yummy lunch at In 'N' Out Burger before coming back to the room to chill.
Check SpellingWe left this morning for a MUCH NEEDED break and some relaxation. We left Jaycee at home...which is so easy to do since Jon, Bekkah, and Jodi are at home too! They get to take care of the chickens, dogs, and house....and make sure Jaycee gets to school on time!

We went and visited our moms last night and wished them Happy Mother's Day. I got awesome Mother's Day gifts from Jamie, Jon, and Jodi (and their spouses and kids). Gift cards for gas, Cracker Barrel, and McDonald's plus a bunch of snacks for traveling. They are so thoughtful! I love you guys!!

Nursing cover

Here's my latest project....a nursing cover. So many babies in our family right now, so I decided to make a few. I found an easy tutorial. They really sew up fast. Wish someone would have come up with the idea when I was having kids!
Note: If you would like to see the tutorial for the nursing cover go to Ta Da Creations . It's a cute blog with some fun ideas. (Myra....Thanks for asking :) I should have included the site when I posted!)

Inspiring!!

One of my favorite blogs is NieNie. I started reading her blog after her accident. Her sister (or sister-in-law?) was a teacher at Jaycee's school. There was an article in the local newspaper about her, and so Jaycee and I found her blog. When I first started reading her blog she didn't post any pictures of herself. Since then she has been on Oprah. I've learned to love her sweet spirit from her writings. When I look at her I see her beautiful eyes and the beautiful woman she truly is. I don't see the scars...they aren't her. She is inspiring!!

I mention this because she has a new little video (My New Life) on her blog. Take a few minutes to watch it.
