Only at Grandma's........

Can you write on the dining room floor with markers....and not get in trouble.
We pulled up the carpet in the front room and the old wood floor in the kitchen and dining room so we could put down a new wood floor.  I forgot about the white linoleum that I hated so much under the wood.  The grandkids had blast writing all over the floor before we covered it up with the new wood.  I think they weren't sure at first....thought they might get in trouble.  But then there was no stopping the fun.
The adults had to get in on the action too.
The art work ranged from scribbles to silly!
and even a scary drawing by John.
I may be in trouble if they go home and draw on their mom's floors.

A Little Downtime for Riding

Last Saturday we went on a ride with Gary's parents and brother.  It was a perfect day to get out.  We found this pipe that had lot of leaks.  It was fun to just watch it.
 And this pretty little waterfall.
We went to a new place...out by Eureka.  It was a 50 mile ride.  Most of it was smooth road so you could go fast.
We stopped at the reservoir for lunch.  Gary's mom packed it so we didn't have to do anything, just enjoy the day!
This is Gary and his brother.  We found a little place off the side of the road with some fun trails.  It really is a lot steeper than it looks....which I why I was taking the pictures and not riding around much.

We started seeing some dark clouds on our way back to the trucks.  The sky was so cool to look at..We got some rain and hail, but it didn't last long.....thank goodness because the hail really hurt when it hit you.
I brought my I-Pod this time.  I was singing along at the top of my lungs to some Pink!  Good thing the machines were noisy so no one could hear me!  I really can't carry a tune....not at all.  I'm guilty of mouthing the words to the hymns in church because my singing is so bad!
And this is my favorite part of riding.  Mud puddles.  I love to ride through them and splash all over.  When we got back to the trucks my mother-in-law told me that I needed to go back because I forgot one.
Somehow my machine is always dirtier than Gary's when we get home.

T.I.R.E.D.

That sums up how I feel.  And it's only Wednesday.  Working 64 hours a week sucks.

On the bright side I did have some free time last weekend to make some more snap bags.  Love these little bags for organizing things (sorry for the picture....messes with your eyes will all the dots and patterns).
I put on my friend's quilt this weekend too.  It's an outdoors theme quilt for her husband.  I quilted over the animals on the first block and didn't like it.  Had to get out the seam ripper and undo it.  Then I tried quilting around them with the pebble stitch.  I like how it makes the animals stand out.  Wish I had a steadier hand and could outline stitch around them.
Salsa season is here.  Yay!!  Double Yay because my husband and son, Jonny, did this batch.  My daughter-in-law's dad has an awesome garden and gave us 2 bushel of tomatoes. (Thanks Tim!)
And this sums up life lately.  Grab whatever is fast and easy.....and run with it!

Another year.....

I wasn't going to post about my birthday this year.....but when you get an edible bouquet as pretty as this....you just have to share.  Jared's family sent it to me.  I love fruit anyway, but when you add chocolate, just too good to be true!
I thought these were chocolate covered marshmallows...but they were bananas.

Got some new shirts, lotions, chocolate truffles, gift card to Sizzler, quilt book, and cash!!  Jon and Bekkah gave Gary and me a new dishwasher for our birthdays.  Guess I can't complain about getting a year older with fun gifts like this (yes I consider a new dishwasher fun!!)
Now on the subject of wrinkles and aging.  One of our older black chickens is laying some funky looking eggs.  They are really thick shelled and WRINKLED.  We researched it on Google and it happens sometimes in older chickens when they are nearing the end of their laying.  Looks like a fake egg, huh?
